Hashira is the last bastion of humanity’s war against Demons. Not only are the Hashira the strongest members of the Demon Slayer Corps, but they are also one of the strongest characters in the anime and manga by a long margin.
With only the Upper Moons and Muzan able to challenge their power, you must be wondering who the strongest Hashira are. So with that in mind, we at MyAnimeGuru have prepared a list of the 9 Strongest Hashira in Demon Slayer (ranked).
So without wasting any more time, let’s get on with our list of the strongest Hashira.
Top 9 Strongest Hashira in Demon Slayer
We have been introduced to many Hashira over time, but between their many fights, their unique powers, and the opponents they faced it’s a tough task, to rank them. But we have tried to rank them as objectively as possible.
We are ranking them based on how dominant they were in battles, how important their involvement was to the story, and their strength levels.
9. Shinobu Kocho
Starting our list of the strongest Hashira, we have the Insect Pillar, Shinobu Kocho. She is the user and developer of Insect Breathing.
Despite not having much physical strength, she climbed the ranks and eventually made it into Hashira. She developed the Insect Style to better help with her fighting style.
She uses a thin, fencing-style sword, infused with Wisteria Posion, which she uses to slash or stab opponents, and deal damage. While she has sufficient strength as a Hashira, she is not strong enough to decapitate a demon.
This proves to be a disadvantage and makes her the weakest of the Hashira.
8. Obanai Iguro
The next name on our list is the Serpent Pillar, Obanai Iguro who uses the Serpent breathing. He is one of the strongest Hashira because of his unique fighting style.
He was born partially blind and thus uses Gabaramaru, the white snake as his partner during battles. The snake tells him everything he needs to know about the surroundings and the enemy’s attacks.
He developed the Serpent style himself from the water style and uses a unique set of movements that make his attacks extremely unpredictable.
His serpent style makes the attacks appear in all forms of slithering movements going in all directions. He also uses a unique serpentine-looking sword, modeled after the Indonesian Kris Sword.
This makes the trajectory hard to predict and the moves hard to evade. Combine this with the fact that Iguro has woken up his Demon Slayer Mark, it makes him much stronger than he appears to be.
7. Mitsuri Kanroji
The Love Pillar Mitsuri is a force to be reckoned with. While she might appear bubbly and cheerful with a petite frame, these outer appearances are extremely deceptive since she has a level of physical strength, totally unexpected for someone like her.
She has also muscle density that is eight times that of a regular person, making her far stronger than a regular person. She has extreme grip strength while also displaying feats of strength that will leave people baffled.
She was able to survive multiple attacks from upper-rank demons while also being able to fight continually for a long time which makes her one of the strongest Hashira.
She developed the Love of breathing herself from flame breathing and became a Hashira in just 6 months. She also uses a unique Nichirin Sword, that is shaped like a whip which makes her able to take advantage of her flexible frame and do attacks.
6. Tengen Uzui
One of the strongest Hashira on our list is the Sound Pillar, Uzui Tengen. He is the sole practitioner of the Sound Style of breathing which he developed himself.
He is a former Ninja, and fed up with the brutal world of Shinobi, became a demon slayer. Despite being extremely flamboyant, he is very much capable, as seen in his battle against the Upper Six.
He developed the Sound Style from Thunder style with the help of his superior senses of hearing. He has got acute hearing and can even sense the vibrations of the air to predict the movements of people or enemies in his vicinity.
He also uses the unique combination of his Dual swords along with anti-demon bombs to wreak havoc on the demons.
5. Kyojiro Rengoku
One of the strongest Hashira, Rengoku uses Flame breathing, which is a key feature of the Rengoku family. An extremely amiable and optimistic person with a strong sense of justice, Kyojiro is one of the most beloved characters in the demon slayer franchise.
He was the focus of the Mugen Train Arc and displayed his ferocious strength. His flame style makes him extremely fast and strong. His attacks can completely burn his opponents while his Total Concentration Breathing allows him to make precision attacks.
His battles against Akaza were a sight to see, cause even after being exhausted by protecting the 200 passengers of the Mugen train, he still had enough strength left to battle an upper-rank demon.
He is also very fast being able to travel as fast as trains. All these factors make him one of the strongest. But because he died, we have to keep him lower.
4. Muichiro Tokita
Tokita is the Mist Pillar and one of the strongest Hashira. As the practitioner of the Mist Style breathing, he is so proficient in it that he was able to develop his form.
Despite looking aloof and unmotivated, Tokita is a prodigy who was able to complete the extreme training sessions needed to become a Hashira just at the age of 13. As the youngest Hashira, he is far stronger than many older demon slayers.
He is also a very proficient fighter having fought the Upper-Rank Five Gyokko and was able to defeat him easily without much effort.
He also awakened his Demon Slayer mark, which allows him to see the transparent world which is a remarkable power capable of doing great damage.
As a testament to his strength even as he fought the Upper rank One Kokushibo, he was able to hold his own against him. Kokushibo wanted to turn Tokita into a demon cause he wanted his strength.
Despite being so young, Tokita is easily one of the strongest Hashira and developed the Mist Breathing 7th Form: Obscuring Clouds by himself for the sole purpose of killing Muzan.
3. Giyu Tomioka
One of the strongest Hahsira, The Water Pillar Giyu Tomioka is unbelievably strong. He is said to be the strongest Water Hashira in the last 50 years.
He uses the water style with such proficiency that he was able to develop a form of his own when he developed the 11th Form: Dead Calm just to defeat Muzan.
From his fight against Akaza, we can see that he fared much better than Rengoku and was able to ultimately defeat Akaza. He even awakened his Demon Slayer mark during the battle which made his move all the much deadlier.
He is also a proficient fighter, who in addition to strength also has flexibility and fluid moves. He has mastered both offense and defense and was one of the few people standing alive after the final battle.
That’s why Tomioka is without a doubt the 3rd strongest Hashira.
2. Sanemi Shinazugawa

He is one of the strongest Hashira and was able to fight on equal footing with Kokushibo as well as being able to wound Muzan. Being able to deal damage to Muzan is an accolade worth everything and that tells you how strong Sanemi is.
He was also able to awaken the demon slayer mark which make him even more strong. All in all, from him being one of the few survivors of the final battle to his offensive abilities, Sanemi is easily the Second Strongest Hashira.
1. Gyomei Himejima
