If you are an anime fan then you probably have heard about One piece live action series. Well, it’s true. The ongoing manga and anime are going to have a live-action adaptation.
One piece manga is probably the longest manga ever and also has the largest manga fanbase on earth. The same goes for the one piece anime too. The anime has currently 1053 episodes and still airing on anime watching platforms.
The story of a 17-year-old boy aiming to be the king of pirates and his mysterious adventures never fails to shock the viewers. The storyline, the art, everything is so good about this manga and anime that you can never regret reading or watching One Piece.
The series is now getting live action which will be called One Piece. This was announced in 2020 and left fans in shock. Nobody could believe that this is actually happening, there is actually going to be a one piece live action show.
One Piece Live Action Production
Eiichiro Oda is going to be the executive producer for the one piece live-action series. The show is under Tomorrow Studios and it has already made a big name for it.
In the announcement of the series, Oda commented that “the first requirement that is made was that live action show is loyal to the viewers who have been supporting ‘One Piece for over twenty years”. The next day, Adelstein predicted that its budget “could break the record for the most expensive production cost in TV drama history” since “the popularity of the show worldwide merits the production’s scale”. The show will likely start in The East Blue Saga.
Tomorrow Studios had planned to begin filming on South Africa by the end of the year. In December, Variety magazine reported that One Piece did not “set an official date for the start of filming” within an article on South Africa’s removal of the COVID-19 restrictions on travel.
In September of 2020, Matt Owens discussed adapting the series to the YouTube Livestream, which would be hosted by fans of the series. Owens stated that he was hoping to introduce the series to new audiences with the live-action version and that the goal of the writers for each episode is to duplicate the manga’s ability to make viewers “laugh,” “cry” and “go “‘holy sh*t! ‘”;
However, the East Blue arc will be more episodic and the humor will be more in tune with the current Western aesthetics. Owens added that he received Oda’s blessing after explaining how important the series had been to his life.
On March 20, 2021, a Twitter post from Maeda with an image of a door in an office labeled Project Roger, suggested that production in person was back in progress. On February 1st of 2022, Netflix verified that the show was currently in production. The One Piece live-action show is currently being shot in the form of a codename Project Panda.

One Piece Live Action Production Budget
The One Piece live action budget is said to be the most expensive in TV drama history. A rumored fact was that the budget for each episode will be around $18 Million which is way huge than the average budget for TV.
Since the budget alone is something that shocks us, we can’t even imagine the production value we are going to get in the Netflix one piece live action.

Inaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy
While everyone is excited for the live-action itself, the main point of attraction was who is going to play Luffy. Well, I guess Netflix has just the right man for it. Here is a list of all the cast released till now by Netflix.
Iñaki Godoy was selected for the role of Monkey D. Luffy. He is a Mexican actor, popular for playing Bruno in “Who Killed Sara?”.
When he was offered the role by Eiichiro Oda, he showed his gratitude on social media saying, “Thank you Mr. Oda for the trust, I won’t let you down,” the young actor wrote in his Instagram post.
Inaki Godoy is a young boy and his light and cheerful aura make him the perfect lead character for this live-action series.
Emily Rudd as Nami
Emily Rudd is an American actress known for her work in Netflix’s “Fear Street” film series. She herself is an anime fan and has watched the series as well as “Tokyo Ghoul” and “Kimi no Na Wa”.
When she was offered the role of Nami “This is truly my dream,” Emily Rudd said in her Instagram post.
Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro
I bet this character is one of your favorites from the series too. Choosing the right cast for him matters the most after Luffy. Mackenyu Arata was just the right person for it. He is a Japanese actor and is known for his portrayal of Enishi Yukishiro, the final villain in “Rurouni Kenshin: The Final”.
He has the right physique as well as the guts to play the role of badass Roronoa Zoro. I just can’t wait for the series.
Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp
The king of snipers, Usopp certainly is the one. Jacob Romero Gibson was chosen to play the role of Usopp in the series. He appeared in Hollywood in the longest-running medical drama in the world, “Grey’s Anatomy”.
He said that the production “has assembled the perfect crew,” referring to his co-stars Iñaki Godoy (Luffy), Emily Rudd (Nami), Mackenyu Arata (Zoro), and Taz Skylar (Sanji).
Taz Skyler as Vinsmoke Sanji
The Black Leg Sanji. Taz Skylar is the one chosen to bring Vinsmoke Sanji to life. He is a British actor, appearing in crime and war movies such as “Villain” and “The Kill Team”.
Aside from acting, he also has experience working behind the camera as a writer, producer, and director. Jack of all trades
