This is a pretty good novel, some criticize it since the “bad luck” section is entirely the fault of heaven, which is true, but that is a part of the story.
He doesn’t just blame it for no reason; it’s a part of the main character’s “gravis” heritage. I view it as just another aspect of the plot that adds something else to make it less monotonous as it affects his entire family and not just him.
When the enemy is the world itself, trouble doesn’t just randomly appear rather, finding allies and friends is random because the MC must assume that the world is against him.
This story isn’t just “go to a new place, make someone mad, get their family/master involved, then the whole sect, destroy sect, go to a new area, repeat.“
Overall, this book is worth the effort to read because it takes a totally different approach to cultivation than previous books and has some fairly solid character development and plot components.
